BIOGRAPHY

Adam Tvrdý is a Czech guitarist and composer whose musical language brings together modern jazz, blues and rock, with a strong emphasis on improvisation, melody, dynamics and interaction. His playing is rooted in the jazz tradition while drawing naturally on the music that shaped him from an early age — from blues and classic rock to contemporary jazz, Latin music and classical music.

Adam began playing guitar at the age of six and later also studied bass guitar and drums. His early influences included The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. The discovery of Miles Davis eventually led him toward jazz, with guitarists such as Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Pat Metheny and John Scofield becoming important influences on his musical development.

He studied jazz guitar with Jaroslav Šindler at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague and classical guitar with Zdeněk Dvořák at the International Conservatory Prague (MKP).

Today, Adam’s work is centered around his own projects, particularly the Adam Tvrdý Trio and Adam Tvrdý Quartet, alongside a wide range of collaborations on the Czech and international jazz scene. His original music reflects the breadth of his musical background, combining contemporary jazz with elements of blues, rock and other influences while retaining a strong sense of melody and improvisational freedom.
